It’s been a few weeks since I posted the news about my latest scan results and I’ve been keeping myself busy with BBQ’s, mingling, a sneaky weekend in Dublin aaaaaand tons of trips to Liverpool.
Now, I never go to Liverpool for anything nice. I take the same route, down the M62, down Edge Lane, turn right at the end and left straight to the Royal Hospital. I could do it with my eyes closed. Yawn.
But not all of these visits have been doom and gloom. My lovely nurse, Sarah, referred me to the Cancer Wellbeing Centre where alternative therapies are offered to people experiencing life with Cancer wether they be a patient or a carer. Now, this is not my kind of thing but I thought I would give it a go as I trust that Sarah wouldn’t refer me if she didn’t think it would help me to cope through this extremely stressful time. So far I’ve had two sessions. One was a back, neck & shoulder massage and this week I’ve had Reiki & visualisation. Both very different treatments but both absolutely brilliant.
How much?
The treatments cost £0. Yes you read that right. This service is operated purely by lovely volunteers who donate their time to help others cope through the most difficult time of their life. Donations are obviously welcome but this is completely voluntary.
The service is new so for more information please click here.
Lastly, I would like to personally thank the wonderful people who run this service. It’s not often you get to do something nice when you have cancer and it makes trips to Liverpool more bearable.
